Yes, we do have a very high volume gay community. But that's high compared to most places. It's not like there's hundreds of gay people walking down the street half naked, all up on each other. The gay community is different here because they don't have to prove themselves. You wouldn't know some if you saw them. As far as Lovefest (or Lovevolution, as it's getting called from 09 and on), this is the biggest street of the year and guess what! It's primarilly hetero....with the stereotypical alcohol infused lesbian experimentations thrown in. It's basically 10-20 THOUSAND people crammed into the area in front of city hall (about 1 sq block), dressed in next to nothing, dancing to techno, having sex (or some measure of it), and just feeling alive. It's great. SF has many big street faires every year (Pride--Homosexual version of lovefest basically, Bay to Breakers, Folsom Street Faire, etc), but Lovefest is THE ONE! I highly suggest visiting for it. First week in Oct. Oh and btw...those girls in that pic are NOTHING compared to what you can see there.
